Meeting Notes

Special Presentation

Elyse Honored

Well, Well, Well.  Elyse Finally received an honor to be one of the first (not the first) women in Rotary.  She was given a special citation by the District as one of the original 25.  She joined our club in August of 1988 and the club has never been the same.  Elyse told us some stories of her early years when she went to visit all male clubs and received a variety of responses from “Are you the wife?” of a Rotarian; “Are you the Speaker?”; “Are you here to clean up?”.  “Why are you here?”.  She always brightens up the room when she enters, but apparently in those “gender changing” days – some were not so happy or bright.  If you are interested in learning more about the year that the Women Made the Rotary a Better Place, click here.

Julie Honored

There was a gathering at The Crush last night as a going away (to San Diego Area) for Julie Warner one of our most active and loved Rotarians.  She has promised that she would be back often and we intend to hold her to that. She has lots of friends here in town, and especially in Rotary.  Don’t stray too far my friend.  You have contributed so much to our club as a President, Past President, and as an individual contributor.  You contribution to our youth in Scouting and Interact will be forever remembered by those you have touched.

The Program

Speaking about Touch, that was what our program was all about.  Combine “touch” with “numbers” and you have a very interesting program about “I FLOW”, by Caressa Ayres.  It is called “Jin Shin Jyutsu”.  Speaking of numbers, I would say she is about a 10.  That’s a good start and got a lot of attention from our male members (we still have some).  When she hopped up on the chair and bent over to touch some “meridian” spot on her legs (In looking at the chart she was going for Spot labeled #1).   Phil swallowed his spoon.

There is apparently 26 “spots” on the body with numbers assigned to each “spot”, by “touching” the spot you can “cure” whatever problem is associated to that spot.  She handed out some diagrams of the body with the numbers assigned to each area.  Phil had one of those magic highlighters and was working on his own personal plan.  He highlighted #15 and #18.  Tom had his eye on 25.  Dick was interested in the female 13, and Elyse liked all the numbers.

It is tough to explain the ancient are of Jin Shin Jyutsu in a paragraph.  This practice predates the Budha, Moses, and Floyd and Bill.  If you want the real story and how this can  work for you, ….
