Linal Miller was our speaker today and she talked about the different career pathways that are available to our students at the El Segundo High School. Even though our students satisfy the A - G requirement to enter college; there may be other alternatives to enter college or pursue careers. She has increased the number of local companies that provide internships for our students and the field trips the kids go on are very instructional. We're lucky to have Linal in our school system teaching our kids. Thanks again to Nancy Cobb for introducing our club to Linal.

We continue to have large attendance at our meetings; it must be Melissa's strong leadership skills. I set next to Marsha Hansen and she said that it's nice having a President capable of running a meeting efficiently; especially after last years' President. We had 24 Rotarians today. In addition Jenny Jacobs was the guest of her Mom Sandy Jacobs; Jenny talked about the 3rd Annual Comedy Night. It will be held at the El Segundo High School Performing Arts Center on February 4, 2012 at 6:00 proceeds benefit the high school band. Jenny Davies joined us for lunch and accepted El Segundo Rotary's donation to the Run for Eduction 5k coming up in March. We had a visiting Rotarian from Palos Verdes Sunset Club; Wally.

Rotarian Chris Powell is running for El Segundo City Treasurer; if you see him ask who is running against. Looks like it's going to be a very close race.

Next Tuesday night at the El Segundo Unified School Board meeting at the school district office; El Segundo Rotary Club will present two $1,500 checks to Richmond Street Elementary and Center Street Elementary schools to help  establish their art labs.

Finally; Elyse Beardsley, wants to know what the name of El Segundo Middle School. If you see Elyse this week please help her out.
