El Segundo Rotary Today; Thursday February 23, 2012

President Melissa pictured with the Speech Contest Winners; congratulations to our three winners. A very special thanks goes out to Nancy Cobb for organizing this great event; the students did an excellent job in relating their speeches to the Rotary Four Way Test. Thanks also goes out to Alex Sanchez and Jack Weber for judging the students. The three speeches today were about Immigration, Bullying and The Arts, all three did a awesome job!!

We had 38 people at our meeting today; so many that every seat was taken and we had to bring in extra chairs for seating. The buffet in the room continues to work out great; thanks to Joe Harding and his staff.

Gary Wilson won the right to draw a card from the deck; he was looking for the Old Maid to win the money; but as usual; LOSER.

We also had a member of the El Segundo High School Choir join us. She talked about the upcoming trip to London to perform at the 2012 Summer Olympics. El Segundo's Choir has been invited to sing at the Olympics and our Rotary Club sponsored her with a check for $300 . She performed a solo at the end of the meeting that was very inspirational.
