Our speaker today was Phil Reed; a former local radio personality part of the KBIG morning show "The Phil & Bill Show". Phil was a very entertaining speaker and we learned a lot about the Los Angeles local radio stations over the past 25 years. Phil stated that Shirley Hoffman was primarily responsible for him achieving the News Director job in the business. He stated that Shirley would sometimes be the one to "slip the dynamite under the door" So for those of you who thinks that Shirley is the shy type; just remember she may be quiet and unassuming; but great things come in small packages. Phil is also Past President of Radio & News Organization; responsible for giving out the annual Golden Mic's awards. Thank you Shirley for asking Phil to speak with us; we could have listened to him for another hour.
