The Meeting:

We had a Fellowes’s Visitor from Snowflake Arizona.  She was from a club of about 8 members and she owned a Bar in the middle of Mormon Country.  Talk about a tough job.  Wow.  She has been in business about 13 years.  Somehow she found Phil and I to sit with…go figure.

We had a very special induction of a new Paul Harris Fellow.  His name is Cooper Stolnack.  He is the youngest person that I know to become a Paul Harris Fellow, and guess what, he earns it.  He is always tithing and giving part of his “income” to others more needy.  He also fined me at many a meeting when I didn’t wear my pin.  I would guess he will wear his pin every chance he gets.

Joe continued his fining ways.  He was looking for a way to fine Cooper to get even for all the times Joe was caught last summer not wearing his pin.

The Program:

Jeff Yantz, the Superintendent of the El Segundo School District and a fellow Rotarian talked about today’s education in Today’s Times.  He presented the budget and talked about all the cuts in Education in General throughout the state.  There was a time when the majority of a Schools resources came from “pre prop 13” taxes.  If you want to know more about Prop. 13, click here.

He talked about how Technology continues to be a very important component now and will become more so in the future.  Textbooks soon will become a thing of the past.  These tools will become available on eReaders.  Phone systems will be converting to VOIP.  I was surfing the internet the other day looking at Educational Opportunities and took a class on Africa which was taught by a Professor at Stanford.  You can take courses and curriculum at most major universities now on the Internet.  “They” are working on how to make these accredited.  This is all available to everyone throughout the world.  It is indeed tough times, but interesting and challenging times.

It was really nice seeing Jeff.  I had a brief chat with him after the meeting and told him I loved seeing him and he adds a lot to the group.  He spoke of how busy he is and alluded to the pressures of the job.  I told him that Rotary for me is an outlet for many of us, where you can take off the shoulder stripes and enjoy the repartee and fellowship of your peers.  Send him an email and tell him how much you liked seeing him and enjoy his company.  He is a good guy.  I noticed he won a prize from the drawing…he chose the red wine.  That will take some pressure off.  I am not sure he gets the Bulletin, but if you do Jeff come back real soon.

Remember:  NO MEETING THURSDAY BECAUSE OF THE ENDEAVOUR, which has decided to come on Friday.

PS:  It seems kind of silly putting this PS here to tell people that these Bulletins can easily end up in SPAM.  If that is happening to you then you won't receive this.  This is actually the first one I personally have received.  They all went to my Spam folder.

I thought that it was a quirk in the system not sending them to the writer and after pushing the "Send" button I would call Tom and see if he received one so that I know it went out.  I have not missed sending one yet.

Finally we figured out that Gmail (my email provider), decided to send mine to spam.  Some deserve to go there, but some do not and it shouldn't decide for me.

I went and looked, and they were all in there.  I spoke with Marcia this week and her's were going to Spam as well (she also uses Gmail).  Not sure if Gmail is the problem or not, but thought I would mention to you who are never receiving these including this one to look in your Spam.  Of course you haven't read this to correct the situation, or you prefer they go to Spam.

This makes little or no sense.
